One OS, one catalog, one studio

Built for the first wave of controller-first PC games.

OkamaOS boots into a focused game shell, expects a controller, and treats every .ok package like a console cartridge. Okama Studio lets anyone build and export games in the browser with AI assistance. The catalog is still small — that is the opportunity for early creators and early players alike.

Get OkamaOS

Download, install, and play — three ways in.

Recommended Option A — Live USB

Boot from USB stick

Flash OkamaOS to any USB drive and boot your PC directly into the game console. No installation needed — just plug in and play.

  1. Download the OkamaOS image from GitHub Releases.
  2. Download Balena Etcher (free, balena.io/etcher) — works on Windows, Mac, and Linux.
  3. Insert a USB drive (8 GB+), open Etcher, select the OkamaOS image and your USB drive, then click Flash.
  4. Restart your PC. Press F12 (or F2 / Del) at the BIOS screen and choose your USB drive from the boot menu.
  5. Plug in a gamepad and enjoy! 🎮

Try it safely Option B — VirtualBox

Run inside VirtualBox

Test OkamaOS without touching your PC. VirtualBox is free and runs on Windows, Mac, and Linux. Great for trying it out first.

  1. Download VirtualBox (free, virtualbox.org) and install it.
  2. Download the OkamaOS image from GitHub Releases.
  3. Open VirtualBox → New. Name it “OkamaOS”, Type: Linux, Version: Other Linux (64-bit).
  4. Set RAM to 2 GB (2048 MB) and create a 20 GB virtual hard disk.
  5. In Settings → Storage, attach the OkamaOS image as an optical drive. Start and boot!

Keep every box on the latest build.

The public JSON feed is what OkamaOS devices check for OS and game updates when UPDATE_NOTIFICATIONS=yes. Download a .okupdate bundle directly from here or run okama-update check from the dev console. Rollback is always one command away.

Make games — free

Build a game in your browser right now.

Okama Studio is free. No downloads. Open your browser, describe your game to the AI, and you're coding. Export as .ok and play it on OkamaOS.

01

Open Studio

Go to okamaos.zyntrix.solutions. Pick a game template — platformer, top-down, puzzle, or arcade. The AI writes the starter code.

02

Build with AI

Chat with the Okama Agent. Say “add a jumping mechanic” or “make enemies faster”. It writes the full file and runs the preview instantly.

03

Export & Play

Hit Package → Build. Download your .ok file. Install it on OkamaOS via USB or the wireless dev server. Done.
